Today we got to visit the lepersorium again and I got the opportunity to talk with Ronaldo, who is 82 years old and speaks English very well. He's a great guy, full of positivity and joy, two things that are likely to be minimal in such a place. As we were talking today he reminded me of something that I guess I know, but I don't think about it often. He told myself and Elena, a co-staffer who was with me, that he is waiting for Jesus because this life is only temporary. That seems so obvious but when he said it, it really hit home with me. Everything in this world is limited. But Heaven is eternal. And Ronaldo, regardless of the leg he doesn't have, regardless of the confinement to his wheelchair, regardless of the fragility of his entire being, he still seeks The Lord and looks forward to eternity with Him. And that's how I want to be; I don't want to be blinded by the light of Heaven but I do want to be cognizant of the fact that this world only lasts a little while, only until we meet our Heavenly Father. Praise be to the God who reigns over all, the Healer and Redeemer. Amen.
