It's easy to simply say that God is in control... But do we mean that? In an earlier post I contemplated that idea that "what you do is what you love." I think a complete and utter reliance on God coincides with acting out our dependence on Him. It's one thing to say we trust God's Will, and it's another to let Him take control. I think it boils down to pride. We all want ownership of our actions. We want control of them. We want to determine them. But as Christians we had to abandon that type of mindset and trust in the LORD with all of our heart and mind and soul and strength. (I'm sure you've heard that before)
Quick anecdote:
In one of the communities we have been able to work in (Quita Sueno) there is a man named Franklin. He set out to build his family a house, so he gathered all he could and ended up throwing together a wooden shanty for his wife and four children. His wife decided that this dainty, rat-infested, rickety shack would not do. She eventually packed up her kids and moved to a friends and told her husband that they would be united once again if he built her a proper house. Franklin went to the LORD and He promptly answered with Javier, Mission Emanuel's co-founder. Javier decided to partner alongside Franklin and provide the means for a house. And I have been able to see this house go from waist-high to fully constructed, only needing a fresh coat of paint. Franklin did not depend on his own means of providing a house. He relied on his LORD and Savior to provide, which He did. And this house will provide the community a way into the hands of God through Mission Emanuel. The LORD provides, amen?!
I know that wasn't exactly quick, but for me it has been an explicit example of allowing God to take control and let His Will be acted out. So when in doubt, let our God figure it out. (Cause He already has)
